PrimeTime Productions TV, a new independent production company founded by entertainment executive John Askew, has launched with plans to develop and produce eight original television and streaming series. Askew, who remains president of For Us By Us Studios, will serve as founder and CEO of the new company. Its programming is intended for the FUBU Network and other platforms where projects have a stronger fit by niche or genre. The initial slate spans reality, lifestyle, entrepreneurial, and entertainment programming, with series centered on entrepreneurs, chefs, athletes, music, beauty, and luxury fragrance.

A New Production Venture

The company builds on Askew’s work at For Us By Us Studios, where he has worked with J Alexander Martin, co-founder and CEO of FUBU Network, on entertainment and content initiatives for more than two years. PrimeTime Productions TV will develop and produce programming, while FUBU Network will handle the majority of its distribution and streaming.

John Askew, Founder and CEO at PrimeTime Productions TV, said:

“PrimeTime Productions TV is a natural progression of the work I have been doing in entertainment. My experience as President of For Us By Us Studios has allowed me to understand the importance of compelling original programming. With PrimeTime Productions TV, we are focused on creating entertaining content featuring strong personalities, unique stories and ideas that connect with audiences.”

Initial Series Slate

The first three projects are Beauty Brains Business-Atlanta, following entrepreneurs Khane’sha Monae and Treana McDowell as they build their empires and generational wealth; Haitian Baddies South Florida, focused on the culture and connection of a group of Haitian beauties; and Snatched by Carmenlla, featuring a female entrepreneur building her post-op care business.

The broader development lineup includes Kitchen Baddies, about a group of chefs; Like Father, Like Son, spotlighting athlete fathers and their sons; and Cartel Hustle, following rapper Taki Willis as he releases new music. Other projects include House of Fragrance, focused on luxury scents from designer Sue Phillips, and Sculpted, starring Nurse to the Stars Rachel Rush and her clientele.

Continuing FUBU Network Relationship

Askew will maintain his role as president of For Us By Us Studios alongside his leadership of PrimeTime Productions TV. The arrangement gives the new production company a direct connection to the FUBU Network ecosystem while retaining the ability to place projects elsewhere.

J Alexander Martin, Founder and CEO at FUBU Network, said:

“John has demonstrated leadership, creativity and a strong understanding of content development. PrimeTime Productions TV creates an opportunity for John and his team to develop original programming that can help meet the content needs of FUBU Network. I am excited to continue working with John in this new capacity and look forward to bringing these projects to audiences.”

Original Content Pipeline

With its initial slate now established, PrimeTime Productions TV is positioning its production work around personality-led concepts and entertainment formats designed for streaming and television audiences. The company’s relationship with FUBU Network provides a distribution route for projects while its development focus extends across several unscripted programming categories.
