Sumitomo Corporation has participated in the Dos Amigos copper-gold project in Chile’s Atacama Region through a 50:50 special purpose vehicle with the G Mining Group. The vehicle subscribed for approximately C$48 million of Tintina Mines Limited’s C$91 million private placement, resulting in an approximately 25% equity interest in the Canadian mine developer. Sumitomo’s effective economic interest in Dos Amigos is approximately 12.5%. The financing enabled Tintina to acquire 100% ownership of the project and will support work toward a final investment decision.

A 25 Year Mine Plan

Dos Amigos is centered on a copper-gold deposit in northern Chile, approximately 130 kilometers northeast of La Serena. A preliminary economic assessment completed in 2026 identified measured and indicated mineral resources of approximately 101 million metric tons, along with inferred mineral resources of approximately 256 million metric tons.

The planned open-pit mine has an expected life of approximately 25 years and a processing capacity of approximately 35,000 metric tons per day. Annual production is projected at approximately 37,000 metric tons of copper and 57,000 ounces of gold, with total production projected at approximately 900,000 metric tons of copper and 1.4 million ounces of gold.

Infrastructure And Exploration Potential

Mining development is already underway in the surrounding area, allowing the project to benefit from existing transportation and power infrastructure. Sumitomo also identifies the site’s relatively low elevation as a development advantage and points to exploration potential in adjacent areas.

Tintina, a Canadian mine development company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, now holds 100% ownership of Dos Amigos. Its private-placement proceeds are intended to advance the project toward a final investment decision.

Partnership Supports Project Origination

Sumitomo has identified copper as a strategic focus within its mineral resources business and established a partnership with G Mining Group for upstream copper investments. The Dos Amigos project was identified and structured through G Mining Capital Inc., an upstream copper business development platform jointly established and operated by Sumitomo and the Gignac family.

Founded in Canada in 2006, G Mining Group provides engineering and construction services for mine development. Its business also includes geological surveys, mine design, economic evaluations, commissioning, operational support, consulting services, project origination and equity investments in mining projects.

Building A Copper Business Platform

Through its participation in Dos Amigos, Sumitomo intends to contribute to the stable supply of copper resources. The company also plans to generate new business opportunities and strengthen its mineral resources business platform through its collaboration with G Mining Group.
