Leica Gallery New York will open Steve McCurry: Adagio on September 10, 2026, presenting career-spanning and previously unpublished photographs alongside newly commissioned work. The exhibition will remain on view through October 18 at Leica Store and Gallery New York, 406 W. 13th St. It draws from McCurry’s new Adagio book, the second edition in the Leica Libretto series. An opening reception is scheduled for September 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with RSVP required via Eventbrite.
A Career Spanning Collection
Adagio brings together some of McCurry’s best-known photographs, many previously unpublished images, and a body of work commissioned by Leica Camera USA. The project offers a broad view of a photographer whose work has focused on human connection across more than five decades.
The exhibition title takes its name from the musical term for a slow, expressive tempo, reflecting the contemplative focus McCurry associates with photography.

“There's a contemplative or meditative quality to photography which I find to be a sort of peaceful state. I love being able to travel the world, and experience different cultures and landscapes.”
Leica Libretto Series
The book is the second publication in the Leica Libretto series, a collection of books focused on individual photographic projects. The books are designed to bring iconic work to longtime collectors and new audiences.

Reception And Gallery Hours
Leica Gallery New York will host an opening reception on Thursday, September 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The exhibition continues the gallery’s work connecting photographers with audiences, collectors, and the wider photographic community through visual storytelling.
