Diwali at Times Square, presented by Sammaan For All, brought a Diwali Celebration LED Truck Tour through Parsippany, Edison and India Square in Jersey City ahead of its October 24 Times Square event. The New Jersey outreach paired music, dance and a live radio broadcast with invitations for residents to attend the full-day celebration. The program will include a Diwali Bazaar, cultural performances, a diya lighting and countdown on the Times Square Ball Drop Tower, plus an evening concert. Since 2013, Diwali at Times Square has provided a public platform for Indian art, culture and heritage in the city.

Community Tour Across New Jersey

The tour began in Parsippany, where Mayor Pulkit Desai invited members of the community from all backgrounds to attend the October 24 event. Rajendar Dichpally, Secretary of the Diwali at Times Square Board, also joined the tour.

Performers from Rudra Dance Academy appeared in Parsippany and Edison, while Archana presented a traditional dance performance at India Square. Radio Zindagi accompanied the program with a live remote broadcast, interviews and coverage throughout the day, joined by Sunil Hali, Promoter of Radio Zindagi Network, Sanjiv Pandya, VP of Programming at Radio Zindagi Network, and Sam Tristar, VP of Production.

Neeta Bhasin, Founder and President of Diwali at Times Square, said:

“We are personally inviting the people of New Jersey to come to Times Square—and especially to bring their non-Indian friends and share the celebration with them. Diwali is about inclusion, love, harmony and unity, and those values are more important than ever.”

October 24 Program

The October 24 celebration is set to bring a full day of festivities to Times Square. The Diwali Bazaar will feature a Kids Zone, food and corporate pavilions offering special information and giveaways for attendees.

The schedule also includes Colors of India cultural performances, the signature Diya Lighting and Countdown on the Times Square Ball Drop Tower, and an evening concert featuring national and international artists.

Support For The Celebration

Sammaan For All and Diwali at Times Square thanked the Consulate General of India, New York, along with sponsors and partners P&G, Toyota, Gopi, Xoom, State Bank of India (SBI), HoliChic, Star Tours, Caravela and Colors. Food partners include Punjabi Dhaba, Banaras Restaurant and India at Times Square.

The New Jersey tour brought the event’s invitation directly to local communities, centering a celebration of Indian culture and the shared spirit of Diwali in Times Square.
