A Christmas Rescue Sets November Premiere Dates

Great American Media will debut A Christmas Rescue, a World Premiere Original starring Trevor Donovan, Stephanie Bennett, and canine actor Niffy, on Nov. 26. The film will stream first on Great American Pure Flix, before premiering Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. on Great American Family and GFAM+. The film gives the company’s Great American Christmas programming a new romantic story centered on pet adoption. Set in Cedar Ridge, the movie pairs holiday traditions with an effort to find rescue animals permanent homes.

A Holiday Story In Cedar Ridge

A Christmas Rescue follows Emma Ross, played by Bennett, a physician preparing her community’s annual Christmas Cares celebration alongside her dog Shep, played by Niffy. When traveling veterinarian Dr. Matthew McGuire, played by Donovan, temporarily takes over the local animal clinic, he proposes adding a Christmas pet adoption event to the festivities.

The two characters work together to connect people and rescue animals during the holidays, with the story centering on love, community, and the search for a place to belong.

Pet Rescue At The Center

The film’s pet-rescue focus reflects the company’s programming emphasis on adoption, fostering, and support for local shelters.

Kaitlyn Haubrich, Chief Brand Officer at Great American Media, said:

“Christmas is ultimately about hope, compassion, and opening our hearts to others – including the animals waiting for a forever home. Pet rescue is a cause close to both Great American Media and Trevor Donovan, which gives A Christmas Rescue special resonance,”

Kaitlyn Haubrich, Chief Brand Officer at Great American Media, said:

“The story celebrates the extraordinary bond between people and animals while reminding us that responsible adoption, fostering, and supporting local shelters are acts of compassion that strengthen families and communities long after the Christmas season end,”

Niffy’s Rescue Journey

Niffy was rescued as a puppy from an abandoned building in Saskatchewan. A decade later, the canine performer has appeared in film and television, competes in flyball, and visits personal care homes.

The role of Shep adds a romantic-comedy credit to Niffy’s work, while also giving the film a direct connection to its adoption message.

A Seasonal Release Across Platforms

With its staggered Nov. 26 streaming debut and Nov. 28 network and app premiere, A Christmas Rescue extends Great American Media’s holiday programming across its distribution channels. The production brings a clear animal-welfare theme to the company’s Christmas slate, pairing a romance narrative with the value of giving shelter animals a second chance.
